New Year, New Goal

Okay, this is it.  No turning back.  I am not going to lie, this is a bit scary for me.  The thought of writing papers in school scared me, straight up made me shake in my boots.  BUT (and that's a big BUT!) my resolution this year is to create a blog where I can save our favorite family memories, milestones and silly stories.  This blog is for me - my family and I have this nervous excitement feeling right now.  Here we are - Grace 3, Scott 33, Rose 5 months and me, 34.

We just celebrated Christmas and it was fun.  I LOVED Christmas growing up, loved the magic of it, singing carols, going to church and most importantly the family traditions.  This year was my favorite as a family so far.  It was Rose's first which made it special but it was experiencing Christmas through Grace's eyes that made it so magical this year.  We had an elf, Sophia stay with us for the holiday season and Grace was excited to come down each morning to try to find where she would be hiding and to see if she had left her a treat.  Some of our favorite Christmas memories this year would have to be seeing Santa at Reedy Creek Park and at our neighborhood party.  This will probably be the only year Rose sits with Santa without tears but she did go to him without any protest.  Grace on the other hand was happy to tell him what she wanted (a scooter and makeup!) but didn't want to go any where near him. :)

Scott took Grace to her first live performance.  They went to see the singing Christmas Tree.  Grace was very excited to have some special time with Daddy.  She wore her beautiful holiday dress and met her cousins at Ovens Auditorium for the show.

Grace has also taken up ballet.  I don't know who was more excited (no, actually I do, but I am hoping Grace loves it as much as I love watching her in her cute little tutu.  She takes the class with her best buds Will and Stella and they have a wonderful teacher who gets them excited to be there every Saturday.

We had our annual cookie swap at our house again this year.  Our usual suspects all came.  Mom, Britt, Jess and the kids, the Elders, Hubers, Jessica and Gabrielle and Lana.  I had some special holiday crafts for the kids and the adults had fun munching over all the brunch goodies and catching up.

We had the Mimi and Grandpa here for the holidays as well as uncle Brian.  Brian has decided to test the waters of NC and is living with us temporarily while he looks for a job and a place to live.  Grace is so excited to have her uncle at her beck and call and Brian so far has been a willing participant!

Some other Christmas highlights were a wonderful (and HUGE!) dollhouse given to Grace from Mimi and Grandpa, a new swing for Rose and an absolutely stunning pendant necklace from my love in honor of our sweet Rose.

We rang in the new year at no better place than at Jesse and Kevin's house.  We celebrated funny memories from 2012, a 36th birthday and a new baby on the way.  My heart hurts watching all the cousins play so well together.  The older boys are sweet to the little ones and the little ones run and run and RUN!  Happy 2013 - I am excited for all that is to come!

That's it.  I did it!!! I am excited for this new creative space.  I hope to share a lot here and to have fun with my family making many happy memories.

Until next time....
